Create Memories

Holiday DIY

Create heart-warming, homemade holiday memories with these helpful tips and delicious, easy-to-make recipes.

  1. Give store-bought gifts a homemade touch by wrapping gifts in plain white paper, and letting kids decorate to their holiday hearts delight!

  2. Help kids build a holiday village using tooth picks and mini marshmallows to create buildings, fences, trees…whatever their imaginations dream up! (Psst, it’s a STEM* project too!)

  3. Use festive ribbon to tie Rold Gold Pretzels loop by loop into decorative “ropes.” Couple with Smartfood Popcorn strands for rustic-feeling indoor or outdoor décor.

  4. Fill mason jars with strands of white LED battery-operated lights to create a twinkling path for holiday guests’ arrivals.

  5. Personalize your good tidings with even more joy by creating card board gift tags decorated with a coordinating wrapping paper. Simply punch a hole and add ribbon (and your message, of course)!

  6. Have an old holiday table runner or two? Cut it into equal-sized squares and personalize with names, or trace kids’ hands onto accent fabric, cut and glue on. Then serve up Butternut Squash Mac ‘n’ Cheese on your new placemats!

  7. After making a batch of White Chocolate Raspberry Cookie Balls, pack them up in small, store-bought cardboard boxes, decorated by your little bakers. Tie with ribbon, and they’re ready for giving!

  8. Fill the air with a hint of natural sweet-spice! Cover the surfaces of small oranges with whole cloves by pushing the spikey ends into the peels.

  9. All this memory making is hard work! Take a moment for yourself with a mug of Caramel Coffee.

*STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics. A STEM-based project couples academic concepts with real-world lessons to help make connections between school, community, work, and the world.
